A functional medicine approach to autoimmune conditions

Autoimmune conditions can be life altering disease, but they do not have to be. If you have been diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, you were probably told that you will need to be on a certain medication for your entire life. In fact, you might have been told you will need multiple medications and that some will stop working and you will need a stronger medication or even surgery, depending on your condition.

The conventional medical model suggests there is no cure for autoimmune conditions, but having seen many autoimmune conditions completely reversed, we beg to differ.

Autoimmune conditions develop when the immune system goes awry and starts attacking itself. This can happen in any body system and depending on the condition, and move from system to system. A functional medicine approach aims to find the root immune system trigger, calm down the immune system, and balance the body. Here are just a few of the conditions we regularly treat:

  • Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis and Grave’s Disease
  • Skin conditions (psoriasis, vitiligo, scleroderma, etc)
  • Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA)
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Lupus
  • IBD
  • Crohns
  • Ulcerative Colitis
  • Type 1 Diabetes
